Workers United Local 50
Welcome to your Union!
Welcome to Local 50. Whether this is your first union job or your first time learning what a union really does, this page is here to help you understand your rights, your contract, and how to navigate the workplace with support.
Being part of a union means you’re not on your own; you have a collective voice, protections on the job, and a process to hold the company accountable.
What is a Union?
A union is an organization made up of workers who come together to improve their working conditions. By standing together, union members have a stronger voice when negotiating with their employer.
Unions help secure fair wages, benefits, safe working conditions, and protections on the job. Instead of facing workplace issues alone, you have collective support.

As a new hire for Park Food & Beverage at the Disneyland Resort, you are automatically enrolled in the Union during Onboarding!

How much are Union dues and what are they for?
For new members, there is an initiation fee of $50 upon joining. For members who are reinitiating, the fee is $30. Union dues are $2 per shift, up to $32 per month. Both dues and initiation fees are deducted automatically from your payroll check through Disney. Dues are contributions used to help support the Union's work, such as legal support, representation, member resources, and the overhead costs of running the office.
What is a grievance and how do I file one?
A grievance is a formal complaint filed when the company violates the contract. This is how the union holds the company accountable. Grievances can be filed in several ways:
- You can contact your area shop steward and ask them to file the grievance for you (Tip: When you ask for a shop steward to be present for a disciplinary meeting, you can ask them then to file a grievance after the meeting.)
- You can call the Union office and ask for a business representative, and they can file a grievance for you.
Please note that grievances should be filed in a timely manner, no later than 15 days after the incident.
How do I ask for representation?
When management calls you into the office for a meeting, ask them if the meeting may lead to discipline. If they say yes, or their answer is unclear, simply say, "I would like a union representative present for this meeting." If there is no shop steward available, you can request that the meeting be postponed until one is available. If you believe your rights have been violated, please contact us!
